Top 5 Free Web Apps

For Startup Businesses

These Top 5 Free web apps will help you run your business efficiently and without spending much money. So this is perfect for small and startup businesses.

1. Wave

Wave is a accounting software that can handle invoices, accounting, and receipts. And all of that for FREE. This can be a simplified alternative to Quickbooks. While it lacks some of the features, it still provides many useful features which should be more than enough for small and startup businesses.

While this app is free, it does have some paid options like payroll and online payments. Prices for payroll range from $20 to $35 a month plus $4 per active employee and $4 per independent contractor. Prices for online payments are as follows: credit card processing 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction and bank payments are 1% per transaction. While these features are useful, the best bang for your buck is going to be signing up for Square. #2 on this list explains a little more.

2. Square

Square is a payment processing app that helps small businesses accept and handle payments, whether online or in-person. This app can be very useful to many startups, by handling payments, invoices, and estimates, website integrations, POS systems, and many more features. They even provide a free card reader.

Transaction fees 2.5% + $0.10 per swipe, tap, or dip. These transaction fees are cheaper than Wave's fees which is why I recommend using Square. Also it comes with a multitude of features and integrations.

I recommend this one because this is how we handle all of our transactions and we have not had any issues. One quick tip, make sure you spend a good amount of time playing around with the app before you use it.

3. Mailchimp

Mailchimp is a email marketing app that is easy to use and the free account is more than enough for most small businesses. The basic plan includes 10,000 emails per month, 2,000 contacts, and much more.

There are some limitations to the basic account, like only have a limited amount of templates to choose from, having their logo on your emails, and other limitations. But for someone starting out these are small details that can be, annoying but manageable when you are first starting out.

Paid plans range from $9.99 to $299.99 which can onlock many different features that you might need later on.

4. Adobe Spark

Adobe Spark is a graphic design app that allows you to create beautiful graphics for websites, social media, and videos. It is completely free. Some of the limitations that come with the free plan is that all your images come with their logo on the bottom right corner and you have a limit to the images and templates you can use. But you are able to upload images of your own.

The paid plan is only $9.99 and gives you more images and templates, and takes away their logo from all the graphics.

5. Google Apps

Let's not overlook Google when we talk about free apps. As Google grows, they create more and more free apps that are amazing. Not only do they have Google docs, slides, drive and all the others we know, they also have apps like Google Fonts, Google Classroom, Google Forms, and many, many more free apps. And depending on what you are looking for, these could be of great use to you and your business.
