While ads are a very important step for most, they should not be your first step if you are trying to promote your website or product. SEO should be the first step you take. Here are some reason why:

• People search everything on Google so you need to show up.
• Its FREE...if you do it on your own. And yes, it is possible to do it on your own.
• It lets you paint a good picture of your product when they find you on a search.

Now that I have convinced you that SEO is a good starting point for your website, I want to say that SEO does take some time to research. But that being said, if you start from the beginning you will not have to go back and do it all at once. You can do it as you go which makes it a whole lot easier.

With Google being the #1 search engine, SEO is the absolute best way to start marketing your website without having to spend large amounts of money on ads. Once your website's SEO is set up and ready, then you can start to move onto paid ads.

In my opinion, the best way to market it the FREE way. Once you have exhausted the free ways, then you can move on to the paid ways, if necessary. Sometimes the paid ways may not even be necessary. But if you start with the free then you will be able to figure that out before spending a dime.

So if you are starting a website make sure to focus on the SEO to get maximum results from your website. And if you already have a website, it is not too late to work on your SEO.
